Krista has been fascinated with linguistics since she was 13, when she began teaching herself Japanese through pop songs. After receiving her B.A. in Japanese Studies from UConn, she went on to teach EFL for the JET Program in beautiful and mountainous Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. She subsequently received her M.A. in TESOL from Simmons College in Boston. In her free time, Krista enjoys reading voraciously, hiking, baking, figure skating, translating for an online news blog, memorizing all of the kanji she keeps forgetting, dabbling in Korean and Chinese, eating yakiniku, and singing along to Big Bang songs.

Krista was involved with UCAELI as a Conversation Partner for all four years as an undergraduate at UConn and is ecstatic to have come full circle as a current UCAELI instructor! In addition, she also works for UConn Enrichment Programs, which are located in the same building as the UCAELI main office.
